PNG icons and PCI handling tool.

Adam Chodorowski took the time to build a nice set of PNG icons, based on the Gnome "Gorilla" icon set, to show this new AROS feature off. You can also see the new Wanderer preference program, which right now lets you just change the backgrounds of the desktop and directory windows, but will later on allow to customize other of Wanderer's features.

Also notice that all fonts are antialiased.

    Plus grand...

Thanks to Michal Schulz AROS now has proper PCI support. This screenshot shows PCITool in action, a program that lets you browse a list of all PCI devices attached to your computer.

UAE, Zune and gcc at work.

Zune is getting better and better! Now thanks to Georg Steger we have more classes implemented, as you can see. You can also see gcc compiling one of the test programs for the new implemented classes.

    Plus grand...

Two instances of UAE running at the same time, showing both the Picasso96 and the chipset emulation at work. UAE for AROS is a Zune application, its graphic output and input handling is in effect done with the help of a custom class made just for the occasion.

A fully qualified GUI is in the work by Adam Chodorowski.

The About dialog was recently updated to show even more information, and not only be extremely stunning. Also, you can see the nice ASCII logotype by Jostein "Taxi" Klemmetsrud that is used when the image isn't available (for example on the floppy).

    Plus grand...

Here we have some new features in icon.library. You can see the new effect for selected icons (the "S" directory is selected here, and therefore brighter than the other icons). The icon labels are now draw with an outline, to be visible even on dark backgrounds (this will ofcourse be user configurable in the future).

Also, we can see the file identification in action: the text files in the "S" directory get special def_Text icons, while the file "AROS.png" gets the generic project icon. We don't have many icons right now, but if they were available "AROS.png" would get a def_Picture icon (or even a def_PNG icon, if it was available).

    Plus grand...

The UberPaint 4p bitmap drawing program, recently ported to AROS (which was fairly easy as it uses SDL). As you can see, it's a Deluxe Paint clone. You can also see the beautiful art that Adam Chodorowski has produced with this program. ;-)

    Plus grand...

Some more simple demos of the early (and still in progress) Mesa port.

    Plus grand...

The Time Preferences application, the Clock and the WritePixelArrayAlpha test program showing alpha blending.

    Plus grand...

Editing the Startup-Sequence using JanoEditor, which is currently the standard AROS text editor.

    Plus grand...

More pages in the Zune Preferences, so that you can configure the user interface just the way you like it.

    Plus grand...

Even more pages in Zune Preferences.

    Plus grand...

An empirical experiment which investigates just how many programs you can squeeze into an AROS screenshot. Quite many, as you can see...

    Plus grand...

Here is the FreeType Manager, which is used for installing and configuring new TrueType fonts in the system. Not very user friendly, but you can fiddle with every little detail. More important, it works. :-)

    Plus grand...

2003-08-08

More eye-candy, including antialiased TrueTrype fonts.

The new About dialog, featuring the logo-contest winner. Mesa is also shown in action through the gears demo.

    Plus grand...

Antialiased TrueType fonts everywhere. Also notice the new disabled gadget effect.

Some screenshots of the latest developments in AROS: more icons from Mason, AHI, JPEG and PNG datatypes and LBreakout 2.

LBreakout 2, a very nice breakout style game. Ported quite easily by Fabio Alemagna since it uses SDL, which has already been ported earlier by Gabriele Greco.

    Plus grand...

Here you can see some more icons from Martin "Mason" Mertz, the AHI preferences and the PNG and JPEG datatypes in action.

Three demos running simultanously on AROS.

Behold AROS in all its beauty: these three demos are running at the same time, carefully supervised by exec. From left to right, "Flamme", "Knp" and "Firework" all show their stuff (the latter demo being the latest addition to the AROS deck of magic cards).

Screenshots (real screenshots :-)) of the i386-pc port of AROS. This is a standalone version of AROS (which means that the computer is booted with AROS as opposed to the emulation flavour where the computer is booted with another OS and AROS runs as an application on that OS).

Here are two older screenshots from programs which at that time still ran directly in an X window, because a layers.library did not yet exist. At this time each AROS window mapped to an X window. Today when AROS is running hosted under Linux an X window represents an AROS screen.
